ISLAMABAD (April 15 2004): The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) has developed the security apparatus for GST-related database of taxpayers available with the Collectorates of Sales Tax in accessible to control leakage of information.
Sources told Business Recorder here on Wednesday that the CBR has given responsibility of GST database security to 12 tax officials, who have been allocated special passwords.
Passwords would help in effective monitoring of the available information and check any attempt of changing sales tax data.
Following computer professional have been assigned the responsibilities of system administration in the sales tax collectorates: Collectorate of Sales Tax and Central Excise, Hyderabad, Farooq Qamer; Sales Tax House Karachi; Amir Ali; Enforcement Karachi, Javed Mehmood; Large Taxpayer Unit (LTU), Karachi, Abdul Shakoor; Multan, Muhammad Yusaf; Peshawar, Ahmad Kamran; Rawalpindi, Naeem Ahmad Butt; Gujranwala, Farooq Ahmad; Faisalabad, Rana Abdul Rashid; Hub, Muhammad Farid; Quetta, Mehboob Baluch and Collectorate of Sales Tax and Central Excise, Lahore, Irfan Qureshi.
Sources said that the system administration/database administration is very important in IT set-up of Sales Tax Collectorte. To strengthen the operation the person having database administrator role would maintain the passwords of OS (super user/root), Oracle Database(system, SYS) and GST and audit.
However he will keep all the passwords in sealed envelope with Collector Sales Tax.
He would be responsible for user management accounts including creation of user, assignment of quota, privileges and table space required to the user, assignments of roles for operation of different sales tax modules.
He would also perform maintenance of activity log registers including Device Maintenance Register, Jobs Assignment Privileges Register, Login/Password Handing over/Taking over Register, Device Operation Register.
The system administrator will also co-ordinate with CBR system development team to meet the processing requirements of the collectorate, sources added.
