ISLAMABAD (July 11 2005): The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) has constituted 'Task Force' in each collectorate of customs for speedy recovery of arrears from the tax defaulters.
Official sources told Business Recorder on Sunday that the Task Force would be headed by Additional Collectors/Deputy Collectors to ensure recovery from these tax defaulters.
Task Force has been given the assignment to trace the defaulters, who are not available on the given business addresses. In this connection, the members of the Task Force would exchange list of tax defaulters with other collectorates to hunt defaulters, doing businesses in other parts of the country.
Obviously, the owners or board of directors of the defaulting units may be engaged in conducting businesses in new areas falling within the jurisdiction of those collectorates where they have not defaulted duties/taxes.
Officials said that the Task Force would try its level best to search for these defaulters on the basis of database available with the collectorates of customs.
It may be added that the CBR has decided to sell the movable and immovable property of tax defaulters through auction for recovery of arrears.
