October 15, 2002, Karachi: The newly merged accounting firm, Ford Rhodes Sidat Hyder & Co held a dinner cum get-together today at a lawn close to the firm's PIDC office in Karachi.
This was the first time that the staff of the two former accounting giants which consists of around 1,200 professionals got to meet each other in person. On the occasion, Mr. Ahmed Dawood Patel, formerly of Ford Rhodes Robson Morrow, now Chairman of the Executive Committee of the firm gave a brief address. In his address, Mr. Patel described the circumstances and gave the background of this merger, which is one of its kind in Pakistan's corporate history.
After Mr. Patel's address, Mr. Ebrahim Sidat, formerly of Sidat Hyder Qamar & Co, now Country Managing Partner and CEO of the new firm addressed the combined staff of the two former firms. He described this merger as a historic event and an opportunity of a lifetime for the professionals attached to this firm. He also gave a vision and roadmap for the future of the firm. He especially thanked the staff for the efforts made in carrying out this merger.
After the addresses an official dinner, which was attended by around 600 people, was held.
Ford Rhodes Sidat Hyder & Co was officially formed on October 01, 2002. The firm is a member of the Ernst & Young International, a global big four accounting firm.
