Islamabad – ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) Pakistan hosted a ceremony at the Serena Hotel on Wednesday to certify Pakistan Telecommunications Ltd (PTCL) as its approved employer.
ACCA’s Approved Employer Scheme plays a pivotal role in the recruitment, development and retention of the ACCA qualified employees in the approved organisations. It allows organisations to reach global best practice in the provision of learning and development opportunities for ACCA trainees and members.
Mr Nasrul Karim Ghaznavi, Member Finance – Pakistan Telecom Authority (PTA) was the Chief Guest in the ceremony. In his remarks, he said that this relationship between ACCA and PTCL is to seen as a win-win situation both for the corporate sector and the young talent. There is a need for professionally qualified accounts and finance talent particularly in the telecom sector since it is experiencing exponential growth in Pakistan. He appreciated that ACCA is filling up this gap of professional accountants.
In his speech, Mr Arif Masud Mirza, head of ACCA Pakistan said ACCA talent fits very well with the PTCL reforms brought in by Etisalat and will see tangible results of this partnership very soon.
The chief guest and Mr Arif Masud Mirza presented the ACCA Approved Employer certificates to the Senior Advisory Team Member Finance of Etisalat Mr M. El. Mughtaba Babekar. While receiving the certificate, Mr Mughtaba Babekar said that he values ACCA qualification because its curriculum, with its diversified components, focuses on international financial standards, which is why he prefers the ACCA qualification over others.
Dr Afra Sajjad, head of education and policy development ACCA made a presentation on the challenges of accounting in the telecom sector while Mr Haroon Jan spoke about the ACCA talent management programme. The General Manager- International Revenue of PTCL, Mr Ameer Hussain made a presentation on the PTCL Transformation Fostering Opportunities for Talent.
The ceremony was attended by a number of senior officials from PTCL and other telecommunication companies, multi-national companies and ACCA members, students and tuition providers.
