ICMAP have issued a press release stating that with effect from Winter 2002 examinations, there will be ‘negative marking’ in compulsory Multiple Choice Questions of all papers. Here is the full text of the press release:
“Students are hereby informed that there will be a ‘negative marking’ in compulsory MCQs of all papers. A wrong choice or incorrect answer of a MCQ will be awarded negative marks @ 50% marks allowed. These negative marks will be taken into account while totaling all M.C.Q. marks. However, if total comes to negative (marks) of MCQs, it will not be deducted from marks obtained in other questions. Summarily, the effect of negative marking will remain restricted to compulsory MCQs only; other questions of the paper will remain unaffected.”
