The Institute of Internal Auditors has developed a new tool to provide internal auditors with the best possible preparation methods for the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) exam.
The CIA Learning System is the first training curriculum ever provided by IIA for its CIA exam. It offers a combination of print materials, Web-based interactive learning opportunities, and live training.
Online pre- and post- study assessments allow candidates to tailor their training and to focus on areas that need remedial attention. The format of the online assessments is closely aligned with the new computer-based testing format, in which the CIA exam will be administered as of February 2008. Interactive components also include resources such as e-flashcards, glossary terms, progress tracking, and feedback opportunities.
In addition to the printed and online study options, live instruction training is available through intensive review seminars intended for those who have completed the self-directed study program. Each course, designed to cover all four parts of the exam, will be customized to meet the class needs, based on a knowledge assessment taken prior to the course. The seminars will roll out in August of this year, and will be led by CIA-designated professionals.
IIA said the new tool is in response to dramatic growth of the internal audit profession and increased demand for CIAs. Over the last five years, worldwide membership has grown by 54 percent, and the number of CIA’s has increased by 40 percent.
