CBR's Image Revamping Exercise

The image building exercise of CBR has just concluded on 21st and 22nd August, 2006 with the foreign donors reviewing press releases of this year-long process and visiting the various LTU and MTU offices. However, the ground realities are very much different from what was portrayed through the press and explanations. An investigative exercise would reveal the fact that with the passage of time, the structural amendments in ITO, 2001 have made it almost similar to ITO, 1979. The SRO released by CBR regarding reduction in WHT rate for transportation through bypassing the parliament in order to hides the mistake as there are no deduction rates applicable in ITO, 2001 for transport related transactions and the self ordained explanation of income tax slab rate are the prime example from just ITO, 2001.
