LAHORE (February 06 2003) : Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has awarded Rs 10.6 million contract to a local firm, MEC Engineering, based in Islamabad, to carry out civil/construction work for Well-15 at Adhi Filed to be drilled during this year.
Informed sources told Business Recorder that the state-owned PPL had invited bids for carrying out pre-drilling civil work for Well-15, in which besides MEC Engineering, three other local firms, namely Gul Traders Noor Associates and Standard Wall Corporation (SWC) participated.
The lowest bid was received from MEC Engineering, which was accepted. PPL is operator of Adhi Field while Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) and Pakistan Oilfield Limited (POL) are other joint venture partners.
Sources said that Letter of Intent (LoI) for award of the contract is being issued to the MEC Engineering by the joint venture partners and it is expected to start work soon after Eid.
The company, according to terms and conditions of the contract, will complete all civil work in 90 days period, starting from the day of the commencement of the work. Spudding work of Well-15 is likely to commence in May-June this year.
They further said that as per the contract, work to be carried out by MEC Engineering includes preparation of the cellar well site, construction of a store, base camp, water facilitation and other miscellaneous work of civil nature.
Sources said that the company will also build an access road, which will be used for transportation of rig machinery and other infrastructure before spudding of the said Well.
It may be pointed out that MEC Engineering has already done pre-spudding work of Well-13 at Adhi Field, located in Tehsil Gujjar Khan, district Rawalpindi in Punjab and Hassan X1, Block-22 in district Shikarpur in Sindh.
