Consulting conglomerate Accenture Ltd., sealed a five-year, $500 million contract with communications concern AT&T to oversee the carrier’s residential credit and bill-collection services.
AT&T will retain control of business planning, credit policy and customer interaction, while Accenture will be responsible for operating the credit risk-management and collections functions.
About 45 AT&T employees would be transferred to Accenture, the former Andersen Consulting, while some 250 others would be part of the co-sourced operation and remain on the AT&T payroll.
Last year, Accenture sealed a $2.6 billion contract with AT&T to provide new technology and training to sharpen customer care procedures and IT systems within its consumer long-distance unit.
