ACCA Pakistan has arranged a series of one day seminars ‘Sarbanes Oxley: Value for Compliance’ in Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi on 31 July, 2 and 4 August respectively. The landmark Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 was intended to reform public accounting practices and other corporate governance processes and shore up the capital markets.
The aim of ACCA Pakistan’s seminar is to provide an overview of the Act enabling the participants to obtain a good appreciation of how the Act is being applied.
The seminars will be conducted by Professor Andrew Chambers. Professor Chambers is director of Management Audit Ltd who specialises in advising on audit and corporate governance. Until end -2005 he served on the Corporate Governance Committee of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales. He now chairs the Corporate Governance Committee of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, and is a member of their Auditing Committee and chairs their Internal Auditing Sub-Committee. He also chairs The Institute of Internal Auditors’ (UK) Education Review Advisory Board.
