if they take you as tarinee and which firms are you talking about i m in england for 6years and i haven't seen any firm paying the exam costs and there is no tuition except four colleges, can you tell me any person who is getting paid for training, if he is paid he might not be getting the right pay except top 20's.

Well most good accountancy firms do that, you may be right about the top 20 thing. I work for a Big4 and I know they are very choosy in the trainee intake and most trainees who are accepted on in these firms come from top notch universities LSE, Oxbridge etc. However, once a trainee is accepted the firm pays for the tution fee and other costs and ofcourse pay over GBP 20,000 pa.

which big4 r u talking about, and where u work in england give me your mobile no and if you are really working there you might be british national and you might have done ur A-level and graduation in england and my brother big 4 pay GBP 25,000 i m talking about Pricewaterhouse gatwick office i worked as industrial placement last summer ok.
and please tell reality not just information from ur flatmate or friends in UK and for person who is doing ACCA in Pakistan ,ICAEW is too expensive he should study for ICAP which will give him reward and also firms in England Pay for ACCA studies too if u r selected in good firm.
truth is always bitter.

Chaser,

I am speaking from personal experience, since you are relatively new to the forum let me introduce myself. I am a Big4 trained CA (Pakistan) and ACCA and have worked for Bi4s in Dubai and now in London. If you had read my earlier post carefully I have endorsed your opionion about

-the Top 20 intake
-Big4 are choosy about intake and consider graduates from top notch British Unis (and do accept foreign nationals as well, permiting their Work permits quota)
-I stand by the amount paid to first year associates (see it says over GBP 20K), you are right ACCA is sponsored too, however,in some of the firms they are paid a little less
-I in no way endorse any one to 'go' for ICAEW unless you can actually land a contract with a reasonable firm. Infact my own brother/cousin is doing his ACCA in Pakistan ! and I would not recommend him to come over to UK for that purpose.
-the so called 'window of opportunity' in UK Big4 for overseas qualified accountants has come because of SoX, IFRS and stringent regulator requirements over the last couple of years. Even so Big4 have hired from across the world primarily accountants with Big4 background and mostly where people have workeed in the Middleast, Australia, South Africa, Singapore, Pakistan, India etc. I know a lot of foreigners who have joined with myself and have usually worked in more than one countries.

pracs
sorry about all the fuss created earlier, i just that some ppl in pakistan want to do one qualification after another and i just want to tell them that instead of studying they should start their carees in practical world by securing good jobs and after that they can do the topup courses.
i hope you will not mind.
take care

Well, no harm done. I pretty much endorsed you in your first post as well
