Dear Sumaaan, i think CBPian is talking about the recognition of CA as Masters at International Level, well i dont know about that whether it is recognised as Masters or not.

Further, will anybody tell me the benefits of CA being recognized as PhD?????, as in my opinion, Babas e ICAP thinks, if anybody has done CA then he should not do anything, the institute will arrange all the degrees and professional qualifications for him, like the Zubair Said, Hajis and Generals, I would like to add other professions like Doctors (MBBS), Engineers etc.
the next move of ICAP as i think will be towards the Actuaries, and finally the CAs from ICAP will have to keep their visiting card of the size like the size of cheque which is given to the man of the match in the cricket (Sharjah Cup) <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

well ICAP's complete qualification is recognized as equivalent to a masters degree in Pakistan and that means it is and will be accepted as a masters degree all over the world, because pakistani post graduates are spread around all over the world and pursue further qualifications in all fields including research based areas like MPhil or PHD. they get admitted to all the world's leading universities on acceptance of their pakistani degrees.

and thinking rationally, it really doesnt seem very important to get the CA qualification recognized as equal to a PhD. the CA qualification alone even without a graduate degree enables a qualified person to work in areas and deal in issues that not many other qalifications like multiple masters or even a PHD can. and, there must be something to the quality of that qualification that most bodies in the profession offer exemptions to memebers qualified from other bodies.

I dont understand the logic behind CA compared as parallel to PhD... Aren't both totally different fields of study?... PhD is all about rationalising your theory and all that thesis work, whereas CA is totally different if not opposite.

I started this thread with your comments / insights about the equivalence of Any Financial Discipline PhD with FIA/FFA/SOA?

An Actuarial qualification is NOT an equivalent of PH.D,
Its a professional certification and shouldn't be confused
with Academics.

"Fellowship in these professional bodies is considered equivalent to a Ph.d. in financial subjects"

Seems like a statement to emphasize the importance of Actuaries in Financial subjects OR to give the general public a vague idea about what the heck an Actuary is?
