Dear All
ANYONE interested in poetry here?? I myself am a big fan of Parveen shakir and Noshi Gillani. Farhat Abas Shah and Faiz.
I would love to initiate BAIT BAZI here..
here comes the first shair....
Kabhi to ao kabhi to betho kabhi to pocho kabhi to dekho
Tumhari basti main hum fakiron ka hal kyon sogwar sa hay.. (by Saghir)
I will really appriciate if you also mention the name of the poet..

"yeh na thi hamaree qismat keh wisaaal - e yaar hota
agar aur jeetay rahtay yehi intizaar hota
Koi maray dil se poochey teray teer - e - neem kash ko
yeh khalish kahan sey hotee jo jigar key paar hota
It was very tough to write it in roman urdu. Huma... havent you read faraz and mohsin naqvi. They are great poets as well. This "shair" is from Mir Taqi Mir ....... (I guess)

the above mentioned "shair" are of GHALIB not Mir Taqi Mir,
and its a good idea to conduct baait bazi here,,

Yes when ever we talk about "khusboo" we remeber Parveen Shakir
It is title gazal of his book "Khusboo"

Kaisay keh doon ke mujhay Choorhdiya us ne

DAY AUR DIL UN KO JO NA DAY MUGH KO ZABAN AUR
And yes i am a great TABLE fan of moshin naqvi and faraz too, actually i love urdu poetry and i collect books, so when ever i go to pakistan my bags are heavy cuz of the books, and my mom warns me now )
My favourite book is SEHRA KHARID LAIN HAIN.. and my FAVOURITE SHAIR of this book is ...

Thanks for ur contribution heart beat... plz do mention the poet's name, if you know that..
And i just have a request in order to bait bazi that plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz do stick to the rules. and sab say important rule hay kay aap last shair kay last alphabit say shuru kartay hain shair.. so plzzzzzzz do stick to that,, and if one wants to post ghazals and shairs in addition to that they are most welcome.. but plz let us have this BAIT BAZI going..

ANd as for wasi shah then yeah,, i liked his KANGAN,, and a few other things,, but i am not very fond of his poetry,, i have read it, but could not make myself buy his book...

I think you cant write the best poetry in bait baazi coz you have to stick to the rules ...
here is one from my favourites ....I really dont know who's the poet
"Chalo azaab sahein dosti ke, yoonhi sahi
Keh woh kisi ka hua hum kisi ke, yoonhi sahi"
And maam Huma, I my self have been a poetry fan in past. I almost have read a whole library as far as poetry is concerned. Have you read Jon Alia???? He is one of my personal favourites.
