opinion...CA vs ACCA - tan - 08-24-2006 first of all .....salam to all i'm a student of CA mod B, but almost all of my friends of my batch r doing ACCA.... but since we started ...we've been quarrelling that, what is more tough CA or ACCA?.... so, to solve this problem i invite the briliant members of this forum...give some suggestions, subject wise opinion and comparison, passing %age, examining criteria, etc. about both CA and ACCA. A SPECIAL REQUEST TO MR.PRACS, ACCOUNTANT1, USMANPK, NOOMAN, INSAAN,ALI,SHOIB,,,,N MANY MANY MORE,,to give ur opinion on that...... - ausmanpk2001 - 09-05-2006 As far as the pass % is concerned, I dont know about ICAP % but ACCA's is normally around 50% in all papers. Passing CA exams is really very tough. Whereas, passing ACCA exams is not so tough. Thts for sure. ICAP is only making things difficult for its students. A CA student has to give much more time than an ACCA student, then he can pass. But an ACCA student achieves the same thing i.e. CA inter without that much hurdles & difficulties. But as far as the level of knowledge of CA's & ACCA's is concerned, things might be different. I personally think that all the subjects of mod A are a waste of time for CA students. Economics, Maths/Stats & English aren't required at all. ACCA never examine these things from its students & ACCA's are going as well in CA firms articles as CA inters. & in C the communication skills paper isn't required to be so tough. Even after passing that horrible paper, CA's written communication skills seems to be same like others. On the other hand, ACCA continously reviews its syllabus & papers. Now ACCA is completely dropping two papers & adding professional ethics & performance management. The only use of syllabus of some business qual like CA shud be that the syllabus should be used its students in practical life, but ICAP is going on "lakeer kay faqeer" teaching old papers & subjects & not ready to take bold steps, to drop obsolete papers & add new ones One thing is for sure too, ACCA's syllabus is much more dynamic, modern & caters to market requirements than ICAP's syllabus. - Schuaeb - 09-15-2006 Usman I have to disagree with you. Undoubtedly CA is tougher of the two. Don't just look at CA Inter's syllabus isolately, when you combine this with professional syllabus, then CA is perhaps as dynamic as any other course and much more dynamic than ACCA. ACCA student may be are performing as good as CA student in firms, some b. comers are also. I heard it a lot of times that ACCA syllabus is more comprehensive and dynamic, which made to compare the syllabai of both myself. I found CA (complete) much more dynamic (may be just my personal opinion). One problem is many times ppl just look at CA Inter's syllabus and conclude that ACCA is more comprehensive, things would be altogether different if you look at CA syllabus of all modules.
