The passing criteria of CA in Pakistan - valiant_omer - 02-22-2009

Salam people.
Well..... the passing criteria of CA is definately somthing that distinguishes it from rest of the qualifications on earth.
I know many people wonder about the passing criteria of CA.
Honestly i dont know exactly either. But many people beleive that they pass the student according to the need of market. For example if 50 CAs are required, they will pass the top 50 scoring guys and fail the rest even if the rest score 80+.
Another rumour is that they do have fixed percentage for passing the student BUT if someone makes certain critical mistake in the core areas of the paper during exam, he is considered fail nomatter how many marks he scors.
Lastly. some think that the examiner throws all the exam papers in the air and those exampapers that land on his bed are passed and those that fall down are failed.
What ever it is.I dont think it is very fair with the students to keep them in dark of their results and the basis on which they pass

The Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan in its meeting held on October 30, 2004 decided to make public that the passing
marks for all the papers of Foundation, Intermediate and Final level
examinations at present is 50% (fifty percent).

The above information will help the students to evaluate their performance
better and will enhance the transparency of the examination process.
