Persons Holding B.Sc. Degree, PPT exempt or not? - [email protected] - 03-09-2010

Dear All,

I am holding B.Sc. Hons. degree from OBU with Upper Second Class Hons.

I have to pass PPT or i am exempted to get registeration with ICAP on the basis of the above mentioned degree?

Anyone have information about it?

Brother just call ICAP.They will give u exact details about ppt.
BTW how many papers have u passed?Just complete ur ACCA(if few professional level papers remaining) and get exemptions.There is no point in starting CA from scrap after passing F level of ACCA.

Hi,

I called ICAP Lahore office today and the representative over there didn't know about it and she adviced me to call ICAP Karachi office. I called ICAP Karachi office several times today but no one was attending phone over there.

Then i called PAC and one teacher over there said to me that i should call them again tomorrow to confirm it because he said that this case is unique.

I met one student of ACCA at Waheed Book Shop and he told me that you can get registered with ICAP with OBU degree but he did not confirm to me that whether i am exempted PPT or not but he said to me that i can get register on the basis of that degree and i have to complete 31/2 years training contract of ICAP.

Dear,
Obviously it would be a unique case.Usually ACCA affiliates get exemptions from ppt and A to D Mod.U would certainly be required to get ur degree recognized by HEC(they require 80% attendece in F level papers and other criteria).Then ICAP would accept it.

Hi,

Is there any one who got equivalency certificate form HEC for B.Sc. Hons. from OBU?

What's written on it?

Please send me that equivalency certificate at [email protected]?

Thanks!

@Shani

Persons holding B.Com. degree with 1st Division are exempt from PPT.

Post-Graduates are exempt from PPT which HEC should accept it as a post-Graduate degree but he is only accepting it as a 3 year degree.

Upper Second Class degree classification means 60%-69% marks.

I think in B.Com. First Division is awarded when 60% marks are achieved.

On the basis of it students holding B.Sc. Hons. of OBU with 2.1 should be exempted from PPT?

dear
60% to 69% is not the range for upper scecond class.First class starts at 68% marks.Even 67% and 66% get first division if their RAP is of A or B grade(exact details r available at ACCAGLOBAL.
But ap ka yeh point valid hai k ppt unka exempt hai jinho nay Bcom 60% marks k sath kya ho.On the same lines Bsc with 60% marks should also fetch ppt exemption.
As far as HEC is concerned ,call their attestation department.They will explain u the whole process.
BTW those who have passed their Intermediate(HSSC) with more then 60% marks get ppt exemption(A-level students can also get this exemption if they have required grades).Kya Fsc(ya jo bhi kya hai) main 60% marks nahin hain ap k?

Well, i have had the chance to go to ICAP's office in Islamabad about two years back and had asked what should a student, who has passed fundamentals level of ACCA and wishes to start Training, do for getting ICAP training at the same time. The lady at the office told me that on the basis of nine papers the student would be exempted upto module C or D(forgot whether it was upto C or D. But it was one of them) and then he can get registered as ICAP trainee. I know this thing maybe strange to all of you, but that was that i had been told
Adeel khan you don't even need to give PPT. You should ask them what EXEMPTIONS in C.A you would get for your 9 papers of ACCA. I recommend you contact ICAP's islamabad office

Hello,

Today i called ICAP Karachi office and their phone was not working then i called ICAP Lahore office and person over there told me the same no. again. I argued with him that you should provide that no. which is working properly. He replied that we told ICAP Karachi office several times about it. Then he given me another no. to contact ICAP Karachi office. When i called it was not working as well[(!]. Then i called again ICAP Lahore office and got another no. which i was able to connect to.

After speaking with them i sent my Degree and Transcript to ICAP Karachi throgh e-mail. I did not recieve any reply from them untill 4 pm then i called them again and asked them about the decision. The person over there told me that he personally himself deal with all the exemption related queries. He was misguided that ACCA members are awarded this degree. Then i explained to him about the criteria and process.

Bottom line he insisted that this is a first case and we therefore need equivalency certificate for it and he was not prepared to accept oral acceptance through HEC.

Is there any one in this forum who got already this equivalence certificate? Can he/she scan and e-mail me that as soon as possible?

Yes i shall i ask ICAP for the exemption on the basis of 9 papers of ACCA, right, great!

@Shani

You are right about the percentage marks but i am telling about the other UK Graduate Degrees. Oxford Brookes i think given more weight to marks achieved in ACCA papers.

@Dard

Tomorrow i shall confirm about that on the basis of 10 papers which i have passed what i am entitled to in ICAP.
