Help required in accounting certifications - shahkam - 03-28-2010

Hello

This is ali and i just joined this forum. I have done a bachelor in business administration and i am very much trying to shift my career to accountancy. Joining the CA programme at this stage would incur a great deal of time and i guess spending a min 5 yr to complete that is not a viable option for me. I wanted to enroll my self into ICAEW and go abroad for it. Please share something on this too, as far as i have researched, a person needs a firms contract in England to complete the ICAEW. So getting a job there at this very moment is very difficult. Do advise about this. Any way of enrolling myself in this program in England etc

Plus could anybody share some good accounting certification that a person can do which could end up in a good job. Please don't advise about the finance or management accounting stuff. It could be a tax or audit or anything. I saw a certification named AITI., but couldnt find anything on that.

Write back people, i need an advice.

Thank you

Cheers
Ali

Dear Shahkam,
It is not necessary to go to UK to complete ICAEW training.U can complete ICAEW training in Pakistan. Many Pakistani Chartered accountancy firms r authorized for ICAEW training.
It is also not necessary to have a training contract to start ICAEW.There r 15 exams in ACA(ICAEW).U can attempt initial 14 exams without a training contract.Just the last one(case study) requires a traing contract.
But out of 15 ICAEW exams only final 3 exams r held in Pakistan. For initial 12 exams u r required to go abroad to appear in exams(Initial 12 exams r held in UK,UAE,BAHRAIN,SINGAPORE,CYPRUS,RUSSIA,MALAYSIA,ROMANIA,MAURITIUS etc) or claim exemptions.

Sir going out of pakistan for attempting each or a combination of a few papers would get costly and hectic. I was particularly interested in going to UK if this ICAEW option seems approachable for me. I am very much interested in the Accountancy thing. I had made a mistake of not opting for a professional qualification while i got my self enrolled in the univ for my bachelors, so i don't want to spend another years pursuing a thing which do not pay me back in the end.

Thank you very much for the reply. Really appreciate it. advise me what can i do to get into the ICAEW in england. I guess they wont allow me a 4 to five year student visa. I f you can advise me at that, or anybody else can shoot something on it.
