When we write the abbreviation of Credit we write CR. The R is available in the spelling of Credit. Why we write DR the abbreviation of Debit, There is no R in the Debit spelling. <b></b>

There are a few possible explanations. One theory asserts that the DR and CR come from the Latin past participles of debitum and creditum which are âdebereâ and âcredereâ, respectively.
Another theory is that DR stands for âdebit recordâ and CR stands for âcredit recordâ.
Finally, some believe that DR notation is short for âdebtorâ and CR is short for âcreditorâ.
