My Decision!! - Osama Rules - 04-23-2010 Salam, Sorry people I have not been able to participate in the forum lately as I was preety busy in my Tennis Tournaments & mocks ofcourse! Anyways,I just need your opinions on my future plan.[)] After my A levels I have decided to go for BSC in Accounting & Finance from London School of Economics through it's external system available in pakistan. It would take me 3 years to complete this degree & then hopefully I will be moving to uk for my ACA from ICAEW which would take further 4 years, meaning that GOD willingly I would be a member of ICAEW in 7 years or so! [8D] I know this route will take longer as compared to some other alternatives but I believe that spending a year more at this time to get one of the best degrees under my belt will be worth it & would prove to be a wise decision in the long run! The closest that came was ACCA but I have decided that now for me it's just an opportunity cost.[D] ACCA-ACA route will also take around 6 years so then there is only a year difference! Lastly,I would say that your views will be appreciated & productive criticism are Welcome! Regards. - MuneerAhmed - 04-23-2010 If you have done A level then i would prefer you to join direct ICAEW or do such course for which in ICAEW you get some exemptions. - Osama Rules - 04-24-2010 Salam, Well, I must say that response rate was disappointing.[V] @MuneerAhmed Yes I will be getting 6 paper exemptions depending upon the units that I would be opting during my BSC course.[)] I expect some more replies yo! London School of Economics is the most prestigious institute of the world the degree of B.Sc (Accounting & Finance) from LSE will definitely add value in your career. Beside it ACA from ICAEW is one of the highest qualification/certification in the world in the field of accountancy. A combination of B.SC (Accounting & Finance) and ACA (ICAEW) is an excellent combination. This is my observation that the most well known personalities of the world who have a lot of literally and professional work at their credit have both professional and academic qualifications, for instance Dr. Khawaja Amjad Saeed, Adolph Matz and Donald E. Kieso Regards, Awais Aftab - Osama Rules - 04-24-2010 Salam, Thanks, that's encouraging![)] More comments plz! Regards. - Osama Rules - 04-27-2010 Salam, Well, looks like you people have reserved your comments for reasons beyond my understanding! [V] Anyways let me ask an easier question For this external system,I have mainly 3 options 1)Alta Vista College 2)University College of Islambad 3)Roots College International I would like to know which one as per your opinion is the best institution? Plz answer this one! Regards. - awaisaftab - 04-28-2010 Do you live in Islamabad ? - Nauman - 04-28-2010 I lived in Islamabad around 3 years back from what I remember UCI (University College of Islamabad) had a poor reputation, it was known for other shenanigans not for its studies. Take your pick from the other two. - Osama Rules - 04-29-2010 Salam, Yes when I will come in pakistan I will be living in Islamabad.[)] @Nauman Thanks man that's helpful![)] More comments awaited! Regards. - Osama Rules - 05-15-2010 Salam, Thanks a LOT for such a hepful advice,I appreciate it! [)] I do get your point BUT I decided to go ahead with this option as my plan for ACA(ICAEW) is confirmed & so is the plan for the uk. Even if due to some unfortunate events I am not able to go to uk then too I have a backup plan i.e ACA from Middle East. [D] "Undoubtedly, this external program has no standing afore IBA, LUMS, SZABIST etc." I doubt if this statement of yours stand true in UK context. Regards. - Osama Rules - 05-16-2010 Salam, Yes,I got your point & thanks a lot for such a friendly advice. Regards. |
