ACMA - Mina - 11-07-2010

Asslam-o-Alaikum
I've done BSc.(Maths, stats and comp)with 71.5% marks and now I wanna do Acma. Please help me how can I apply for this. And is it aright choice

ACMA enjoys a great prestige and its graduates are well known for their expertise in Management accounting. Good opportunities both in public and private sectors are also available to CMAs.

But whether you should go for this option or not totally depends upon you because only you know how much time and effort you can efford. ACMA study requires much effort and time so keep these factors in mind before taking initiative.

Mudassar.

Do CMA(IMA) enjoys the same or atleast competetive prestige in Pakistani Market ???

Regards.

CMA(IMA)in Pakistan is given equivalence to CMA (Pak)by ICMAP. But I do not have correct idea whether market also treat them equal.

May not be fact but according to my knowledge CMA(IMA) has very good repute in Pakistan so there must be if not more then atleast equal opportunities for CMA (IMA)s.

Ya, i also have some major doubts about mudassir's comments. CMA (IMA) is not recognised in Pakistan at all by either ICMAP OR ICAP.
@ Mina U have mashAllah scored very good marks. I'd suggest u go for CA (Pak), u will do it easily, God Willing. however if ur interested in doing ACMA, there r 2 options. one is to do it from ICMAP (21 courese + 1 case exam), and the other is CIMA (14 courses + 1 case exam). At present CIMA is making inroads in pakistani market and it will take some time for them to do so. however, lets say u take 3 years to complete CIMA exams, by that time they would have sizeable presence in market as recently they have exempted first 5 papers to b.com which means more and more students will take that route as exemption fees is also waived for the year 2010 so even cost comparision wise, it will cost the same as ICMAP. CIMA also has more recognition in middle east compared to ICMAP, so thats also an advantage.
lastly after completing CIMA, based on 5 years membership and endoresement by 2 UK ACA's (ICAEW qualified), u become eligible to ACA- UK membership.
i hope u choose wisely!

@Mina
Walaikum Assalam & Welcome to the forum.
I think you want to say Acma from ICMAP (PAK)as Certificate from CImA (UK) is also called Acma. Please correct me if I am wrong.
The above poster is right About CImA.In my opinion You should go for CImA as your marks shows that you can even do it in two & a half years,(till that time CImA would have made inroads in Pakistani market) as far as for CA (PAK) you should need atleast six years to complete.
As said above that CImA also has good value abroad.Keep one thing in mind that since it is UK qualification its expensive as compared to ACMA(ICMAP Pakistan).ICMAP takes more time to complete than CImA due to their some policies, Quota etc, But it also depends upon you.

For the record, i am myself CMA from ICMAP but in all fairness i feel doing CMA from ICMAP just doesnt make any sense now a days as both ACCA and CIMA r much viable options. infact ever since CIMA started granting 11 exemptions to CMA- ICMAP, just look at the number of our qualified persons taking advantage of that offer. Infact almost everybdy is trying to do CIMA now
