I would agree that bean counters are geeks. (I don't like that term)[D]
However, I would not say this about people in accounting profession. It is true that sometimes you have to be âanalâ, especially if you work in audit. The standards are pretty strict and if you donât stick to them you are going to get hurt. However, this does not prevent people from having fun, if people indeed desire to have fun.
All people are different; this is true for accountants as well as other professions. What I always try to do is to make sure that I am fun to be around. Some people are afraid to relax, because they think this may appear unprofessional. What I try to do is to signal to them that it is OK to relax. Some people canât relax, thatâs just the way they are; you canât change them.
