Actually, this site is a public medium and certain things cant be discussed on this medium. Obtaining business from European markets is one of them. I will be quite pleased to help out any members planning entering in to EU markets. please dont be mistaken, i am not trying to market any of my own service, I pledge to provide this support without any consideration as long as it is reasonable and does not take too much of my own time and it benefits the labout market in Pakistan. I would love to see few more pakistani companies operating and benefitting from the booming EU markets. If one can develop and maintain the right setup, the opportunities are endless and indian industry is making the most out of it. Well, good luck to them and I wish the best to indian firms as well, they planned it well and they deserve the benefits.

One of our pakistani CA a Tax Specialist and Ex VP South ICAP months before this whole advancement, indicated the need of "Exchange of minds and not people".

It would be a positive move but i always wonder why's EU's ever be preferring Pakis over Indians coz Our Practice being mulim or Paki is to fight and quarrel over issues and they assemble themselves and promote. I dunno if pakis outside Pak do promote other Pakis coz this is the vital factor in development and expansion of our abilities.

As far as IFRS application is concerned i guess comparing ACCA and CA, ACCA is competitive in testing its paper 3.6 as compared to ICAP's Module E. (one should compare only if associated with both institutes)

Certain Expo Drafts are yet to change the IFRS structure yet IFRS 39 is due for big changes (..any one can consult IASB's site) I cant comment on the abilities of our paki accountants but it would ceratinly be a great assignment if EU's outsource some work for Paki and even if they do they would surely contact Big 4's in Pakistan i guess

i appreciate u and other professionals who dedicate there time yet u r rt that this site isnt meant for business development.

I recomend an idea for Paki Accountants of this site to use the net world for seeking the work from EU if they have ability. They should develop websites from specialist designers and offer themselves for services if otherwise permitted per ICAP's bye laws (marketing etc etc)

Certain IFRS which are predicted to give tough time are IFRS 8,12,19,22,32,39. Yet IFRS 1 (new) is yet to come recomending thje application of IFRSes. (Any one who has attempted both ICAP's Module E paper and ACCA's 3.6 can easily companre and judge the difference.

But its a remote possibility that in your very first attempt you'll get into PWC or DELOITTE... So consider everything before you decide to go to UK after/during ACCA.

With reference to what have been said already regarding the Taxation Legislation in the UK, I would add some rather factual concepts, which create illusion with many people these days.

I have researched quite a lot into the Taxation Legislation and the Rate of Tax on what people earn in the UK, and what I concluded was that the amount of tax a worker in Pakistan face is rather the same proportional to what the rate of tax for this financial year is in the UK.

I agreed with the other point that was raised that cost of living in the UK is very high. But if you convert it in Rs then yeah it is extremely high, however, if you compare the prices in Sterling terms and you would realise the purchasing power of UK people and I am sure then you would realise that it is not an expensive country to live in.

Also, the cost of borrowing, namely the Interest Rates, and the general sustained rise in prices, the inflation, is also quite low compared to Pakistan.

So, in conclusion, I think you need to look at bigger perspective if you want to compare the living standards and the cost of them in different economies.

As firms in UK are going to change their accounting system from FRS (Financial reporting standards of UK) to IAS (international accounting standards) from january 2005, so its best to be in International stream
