Hello,
As you may be aware that at the simplest level a DFD is a data flow diagram. It depicts the flow of the data you may be trying to map. While and ERD or entity relationship diagram depicts the relationships between 2 or more entities.
For example if you have 2 cars on the street going south and the members in both cars are brothers. Then your DFD will show the flow of the cars going south. While your erd may show the relationships
of the members in the cars as being brothers.(this is an extremely similistic view)
Thus what a DFD does can not persay be done by an erd as they map 2 fundamentally different aspects of given situation. They may be used in conjunction to solve a problem.
