I think that u ve asked the question in respect of NBFC...
In that respect, every NBFC has some investment portfolio. as explained by derivativetrader, u have different sets of portfolio for investment in different kinds of securities. and as per the NBFC rules, a specific percentage is given for NBFCs to invest in different portfolios. i.e. 20% in leasing, 20% in housing finance etc.
And fluctuating ur portfolio subject to those rules to get maximum benefit is portfolio management.
