I dont think there can be a straight one answer for every one, a lot depends on if you can afford to go for ACCA (fee and time), and what level are you at class 12/Graduate/Post Graduate. Plus the exemptions that ICAP has given out to ACCA are not carved in stone and there can be revocations, so any one considering that option has to take in account the risk that they are under taking.
And yes, just following on to what every one else is doing is just not the right decision, we have had trands in Pakistan.,. about B.com, MBA, Software Engineering/IT and now CA/ACCA. The good news is that there are now a lot of opportunities in Pakistan and a lot of other professions that are coming up which ofcourse not every one knows about.
This attitude about going to the profession that pays the highest is quite defeating in itself, because each person has his/her own apptitude and should take up profession that are more akin to their skills and apptitude. All professions have people on the top ! That is why various professional qualifications have apptitude test,. but we do in Pakistan (infact Sout Asia as a whole) is defeat the system by 'training and learning' for these apptitude tests.
