<br />Salam to everyone,
I am Awais from Islamabad. I recently re-discovered this site in my bookmarks after it managed to stay hid for some good 2-3 years. Anyway going through the forum I found that there r some very helpful and knowledgeable people around..and help is something I could definitely use.
Alrighty. Here's the deal I've completed my BBA in May/June this year and right now I am contemplating applying to several Universities abroad for admission. My objective, eventually, is to be able to complete the CFA examination successfully, AND if I can get a foreign passport in the process would be just fantabulous. I need ur advice to help me decide which is the best way to go about it. I am applying to
Masters of Professional Accounting - Melbourne University
Masters of Professional Accounting - Monash University
The courses approximately take two years to complete and upon successful completion, a student is given membership into the Australian Accountants body. Now a friend in Australia has told me that Accountancy jobs in Australia are in great demand and with the membership into this body, getting a Permanent Residency is relatively easy too, takes around 3 years.
Monash also offers Masters of Applied Finance and Masters of Business in Banking and Finance. these two degrees don't lead to professional recognition or membership but they are just as relevant.confused confused
The second option is to apply to
MS in Money Banking and Finance at University of Manchester (One year Prog)
(or other Universities and Programs of similar nature)
Get a job in a Bank/Fina. Inst and then attempt the CFA papers.
Lastly, there is the option of Canada. Windsor University has a one year Masters of Accountancy course and Brock has one year MBA (avg. standing). I have relatives there who can help me stay there and settle in. So I continue to prepare for CFA and attempt at an appropriate time. Chances of PR in Canada r good too.
As extreme backup, I am also applying to Lahore School of Eco and IBM Karachi.
So what do I do???
Help appreciated.

You have to define your goal and objectives. I can see these to be becoming CFA and getting a foreign nationality. OK, both seems fine. Then the question is how you achieve these and how important are they to you. Would you be okey to sacrifice one for the other or there is no question on that - this is only you can decide.
CFA will take you at least 4 years to qualify and you do need a job as otherwise you will not get the characters. So, you need to look into the probabilities of getting a job that helps you getting the work permit or their equivalent in countries you are interested in working, if outside of Pakistan, surely.
I do not have any experience of recruitment in contries but UK and here it isn't very easy for every one to get a job that will also get them the work permit. Within the finance sector, there are investment banks (not all of them support WP applications), accountancy firms (again not all of them cater WP applications) and other investment firms which also have the same trouble. You will be targeting the graduate level market and hence will be competing with best international graduates from top universities of not UK but abroad.
I know of the fact some finance companies only recruit from 'target' universities. University of Manchester may not be one of them. Usually you need to be at unis like Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, Imperial and a few more in the UK and then some of the best employers will be interested in seeing you.
There is also no guarantee that even if you are a grad of the best university of the country, you will get a job.
In short, I think it's a difficult question to answer and is totally dependent on your luck.
Other alternative may to get married with a foreign national and then not only you 'will' (provided you remain married after certain amount of time) get a foreign passport AND then it will be easier to get a job where the employer will also support you for the CFA.
