You are not based at Pakistan and may not fully be aware of the cultural issues and responsibilities deemed to be taken by youth in middle class group.
There is a great bearing of one's age to the decision to be taken for his career and future, at least in Pakistan, specially if such decision has to drive and build up the earning capacity.
Secondly, age when compared to education level, speaks about the ability to take up future challenges. I, with these words, don't undermine one's positive intention. Rather, it is a very generalized statement. Rare cases are always there!
In Pakistan, normally chaps complete their intermediate (HSSC exam) in the age of 17 to 18.
