I am sure no one on this forum is 'offended' or anything on those lines,. my point of view is that you do not like the idea of a clean shaven person reciting Duaas and Naats ? why may that be. or do u think that anyone who does not wear a beard is not 'pious' enough. my dear, people have been clean shaven in this part of the world for a hundred years now (muslims i meant) so that must not be an issue. I would trade a semi literate maulvi for a clean shaven enlightened muslim any day !
Don't worry what Musharaf is at is simply trying to bring the nation to an reasonableness and that's all. In Pakistan no one can ban scarfs, dupattas, beards etc.
About wearing good clothes, Dr. Liaqut's wardrobe is not good its 'flashy' but something of his personal choice. I can't understand how you can estimate the value of other 'maulvis' clothes by just looking at them ? or do you see beyond their clothes into their not so simple life styles.
By the way Islam has in no way restricted any muslim from wearing good clothes or finding a halal vocation ! even if it be reciting naats and duas on TV. Where does the exploitation come in, the Dr. is not even a memeber of a religious political party !(i am not an MQM fan either, but they do represent people and must be respected for that). I think these relegious party mullahs are the real exploiters of simple and poor people ! the way they won elections in NWFP on anti US / Afghan card.. well that is another story all together.
Please feel free to disect and discuss, you have more chances to post,so that we may understand and appreciate your point of view.
