I can't comment on the demerits of the degree, because quite frankly I can't think of any. As far as its recognition goes, it is surely recognised in the UK if you want to go for your Masters from any university. I also know for a fact that the BSc. degree is recognised in Canada as a four year bachelor degree. Apart from this it is also recognised in the Middle East for work permit/residence visa purposes.
