I agree there can be no comparisons between degrees such as CA and ACMA,.. CA and ACCA yes, but that only on the academic forum.
What people usually draw are parallels between qualifications is on its perception in the market place and the kind of 'respect' that it may command in society at large (apart from the professional circles). For instance any Lay man (in pakistan)would know what the initials CA mean as opposed to ACMA, ACCA, CPA etc. Similarly any one remotely associated with 'commerce'/accounting is familair with A F Ferguson. I have actually experienced this in remote Governmant offices.. staff immediately recognised 'FERGOUSON'. This how ever in no way means that the rest of the Big 4 lag behind in their working or clientle etc.
ACMA has had the misfortune of always having people at the helm of affairs who are also ICAP members and I think that sort of dilutes the whole interest. No wonder ACMA is receeding behind ACCA now... (the private sector)
