Pls note, big firms normally doesnt induct student who seek training for ACCA degree. The only route is to complete ACCA and thn apply for CA last parts. Out of big 4, 2 firms may induct in unusual situation.
ACCA degree is sumtimes a big reference in itself if u ave secured good marks. However if u dont have good marks then u require a reference.
Priorities in big firms are as follows
1. Students with exceptional academic record. (With or without reference doesnt matter, they get inducted) [Applicants percent 63% of total applicants, selection % is 90 %]
4. Students with average/below average record with reference (only a strong reference however they suffer the most inside the firm) [Applicants percent 2% of total applicants, selection % is 90 %]
2. Students with average record without reference. (They need luck with their interview and personality test) [Applicants percent 25% of total applicants, selection % is 70-75%] They are the mediocers
4. Students with below average record without reference (they dont deserve the big firm frankly coz they wud not be able to compete with academic students) [Applicants percent 10% of total applicants, selection % is 1 %]
So if 100 students applied in any big 3/4 firms the induction would be
a) Top students - reference doesnt matter 63% x 95% = 60
b) Weak Students 2% x 90% students = 2
c) Average without reference 25% x 70% = 18
d) Weak Students no reference 10% x 1% = 0
e) Other rejected from all categories 20 students have following problems
Attitude problem
Lack of elasticity
Bad performance in interview/test
Mishap
Plz note that students who are selected on basis of no reference or without effect of reference are from a and c i.e 78 students out of 100.
The students who belong to category of (a) might have references but hardly no institute rejects exceptional people on the basis of no reference.
One thing more, reference is not some name from which firm would be yielding any benefit. Its just to acknowledge that student is from some acknowledged backgroud. Aprox 60-65 % students with no reference at all and 10-15% having refernce but also exception acedemics is not only the matter of reference.
The above information is for guidance only. It doesnt reflect actual figure however based on the experiance and research, the data can be considered to be 90% correct.
