B.Sc Hons in Applied Accounting

Dear Friends
I contacted to the HEC, to know that whether the B.Sc (Hons) in applied accounting from oxford brookes university is recognised by HEC or not.

They told that it is recognised by the HEC because Oxford Brookes is a chartered UK university.

But now the problem is that whether it is equavalent to Pakistani MBA/M.com or to Bachelor.

thats a very good news
almost years back, there was a friend of mine. he did bsc hons from bristol university uk, he contacted hec & asked them to give equivalency to masters coz he said that its bsc hons but they refused. they asid that its a bsc degree so its equal to bsc not msc.

All British degrees are equivalent to Pakistani degrees, so if you have a Bachelors (hons) from the UK that will be equivalent to a Pakistani (hons), which makes sense since you spend the same amount of time on a Pakistani degree.

Its similar to how A levels in equivalent to Pakistani HSC

Well a question arises at this moment that when ever any Pakistani student with Bachelor degree tries to get admission in Master degree in UK then He is refused by the University of UK on the ground that Pakistani Master degree is equavalent to UK's Bachelor degree, this can be concluded that British Bachelor Hons would be equavalent to Pakistani Masters.
HEC is not ready to accept that,please give comments, Why it is as ?

As per my knowledge, to complete a masters degree u shud have a specific number of credit hours that u have spent in doing masters, and most of the universities in Pakistan doesnt give u the required amount of credit hours. So when u go to UK, they ask about the credit hours and they are not as per their requirement, so they can only grant u an equivalent bachelors degree. In Pakistan, as far as my understanding Beakonhouse Informatics, Lums and IBA give u the full credit hours required for equivalent UK degree.
Anyways do check this issue of credit hours before entering any institute in Pakistan, and cross check with UK, if u want to go abroad after this degree.
I may be wrong, in that case, UK people may tell u the actual scenario.

Abdur Rehman is correct in his analogy there,..UK has a national accredition scoiety who give you equivalance with UK degrees for a small fee, so if you plan to do master in the UK and persuing a pakistani degree it would be a good idea to check with them. The local British Council would be able to help you in locating their address. As longs as you will be earning the BSc. (Hons) from Oxford Brookes,, that will make you eligible for entrance to a UK Masters degree..

Alternatively for old tosses like myself who were not eligible for BSc. (Hons).. ACCA is considered to be equivalent to 'UK Masters degree exams' and ACCA will issue you a letter saying just that.. so it would be possible to enroll for a post Masters degree.. Mphil or do some credits before getting into a Phd. in the UK here..

This is all the academic side of things,. you need to bring in factors such as 'passing entrance tests', interviews, finances, immigration requirements

DT, agreed, in that case aren't you usually asked to cover some courses, I mean as in to make up for requisite credit hours.

On a seperate note, I know the UK undergraduate degree does not work in that way, but any idea how many credits a 3 year UK Bachelors degree is equivalent to ??

Yeah, sometimes the dept may ask you to take extra classes.

I don't know the answer to your second question.
