Life without some risks will not be of much value. If you want to dream high, you have got to take risks too.
Hardwork and commitment are always awarded, in one form or the other. Are you afraid of failure? Be confident and have "can do" attitude. Most of the students do not even study hard to the level required and then they complain.
nope. i am confident that i can do the ACA from ICAEW. or in fact, any CA course in any country. Pakistani CA, well no so much. firstly i know im going to fail even if i get a distinction. secondly i dont even wanna do the pathetic CA of pakistan
if you can, sit out a year and apply for lums next year when you can for their bsc in a/c + finance course it is by far the best option available for one having an interest in the field of accounting.. but only do so if you think you have a good chance of getting in.. if not youll have to choose b/w acca and pakistani ca..
ofc other considerations come into play, like affording lums fees .. taking a break year etcetc.. the choice is up to you really.
but why are you against the University of London international program? It is awarded by the london school of economics the degre Bsc in accounting and finance. the study material and the papers are set by the experienced professors there. And LSE has by far one of the best faculties in accounting and finance in the world. why not that? im not doing it privately. im thinking of doing it with Lecole which has been offering the LLB and Bsc degrees since 2000 and there graduates have won gold medals and scholarships for their master in LSE. so why not that program? it is pretty tough as far as ive heard. even tougher than LUMS as the papers are checked in the same way they are checked for the internal students. so the external students have to maintain that standard of the university of London. and the most important thing is that the person who checks and sets your paper is different than the person who teaches you. so it is pretty hard.
@yasirrfc here no one is against anything we are just comparing things. Firstly external programmes are not valued equal to regular program ask any employer. if u can go to UK and get admission in LSE than go for it i gurantee you will find a good job. But if u cant than why not take the ACCA route to ICAEW. one more interesting thing i have noted is that you compare each degree with reference to the exemptions allowed by ACCA in regards of that degree which makes me feel you want to do ACCA in future but after getting this degree. Let me assure you in most cases external programs are not worth and you might not even fetch a job of 10 15K. I hope everything is sorted out now. As far as "the person who checks and sets your paper is different than the person who teaches you" is considered it is the case in ACCA CA CIMA ICMAP ICAEW etc etc. I wont stop you from studying BSc but i would advise you to go for ACCA than CFA/ICAEW. But take decision on your choice we at this forum can only guide you from our experience. Again ACCA even wont give u a job but there are many chances you might end up getting training cntrct at the end of which you will make big bucks but before that there are 5 6 years of hard work. Also once you enter the profession you will come across many things which might be unheard to you but have good worth in market.
yeah i know that but the thing is studying for a degree, graduating with a degree makes you and your parents proud.cmon its not about only getting a job. ull feel prouder in doing a degree and its a pretty good feeling
acha i dont know i guess a CA feels much more proud than a MBA even if he is from IBA than i dont think there is any difference between the pride they feel in their studies. Chalo best of luck for your future.
If you want to feel proud then degree is not that thing in which you must have a pride. Getting the right job makes you and your parents proud. If you were a CFO, your children would not even ask you your qualification, that designation speaks for itself.
The dreams which students see before finishing their studies do not reflect reality They dream of getting a high paid, high value job right after graduating without any efforts. This maybe true in some cases, but not most. Todays market is VERY competitive. You do not know this because you have not had practical exposure yet. Even full time graduates from reputed universities find it hard at times to find the right job, let alone external program graduates.
