Can ACCA qualified get admission in LUMS

BTW HEC don't issue equivalence certificate for A/O LEUEL.It is IBCC who do this.

Issuing certificate means HEC recognizes this degree and consider this as equivalent to Pakistani graduation. Of course they won't be stamping HEC logo on your OBU degree lol.

No I havn't got this BSc. yet. I worked on the project on my own but was unaware of changes as they were switching to new syllabus and made it compulsory to complete Ethics module (deadline had elapsed when I realized). I'll accommodate the changes in new scheme and might submit in this session or may be next one.

Maine bhi HEC logo ki bat nahi ki.One of my cousin completed his 3 years bachelors from a Newzealand university.Then he moved to Canada and applied in a masters program which required a 4 years degree as a prerequisite.He could not get admission directly.He then completed bridging courses.Is lie mujhe lagta hai k shayed HEC bhi is ko 4 years equivalency na day(may be).
One more thing bhai , I passed few ACCA papers studying at home.Hec requires 80% attendencd.Meri degree ko to may be 3 sal ka bhi na mana jae.

The logo thing was said on a lighter note. The fact is that in UK the graduation without work placement is usually of 3 years only. Here in Pakistan its either 2 years or 4 years. My above discussion was merely an explanation of equivalence process. I am not sure how many years HEC will award to this OBU degree but its amazing if UK's undergrad degree is not recognized by HEC as equivalent to 4 years Pakistani undergrad degree.

As for your cousin's 3 years degree then I agree that Canadian universities require 4 years undergrad degree for masters program because in Canada the undergrad degrees are of 4 years. But I'm amazed to read that they didn't accept 3 years degree of a New Zealand's university. I checked a few Canadian universities and in international students category they mentioned that UK's 3 years degree is eligible for their masters program. You can check it out too.

Yep, your degree might not be recognized by HEC because of attendance shortage. Go for it if you're planning to study abroad.

Obviously dear I am going for it for future use in immigration.
Mate PMDC(Pakistan Medical and Dental Council) require each foreign medical graduate to sit in a proficiency test(both theory and practical).Even US and British graduates also.There r just 2 chances for this.If a candidate fails twice , he can never register as a doctor in Pakistan.This year the result of this test was less then 20%(I forget the precise figure).
Similarly PEC(Pakistan Engineering Council) has a list of foreign universities whose degree is accepted.List is very limited.Many foreign universities r not included.
Pakistani institution itne bhi halke nahi.

I didn't mean to undermine Pakistani institutes. Since UK honors degree is of 3 years while Pakistan's is 4 years thats why I was amazed that how could HEC give it equivalence of less than 4 years.
Anyhow, someone from HEC or the one who has gone through this process of equivalence can clarify things better.

A country's students having 3year's graduate degrees(where 4year degree doesn't exist) should be provided a 4year's equivalency certificate in a country where degrees are of 4years

As per the directives of HEC CA and ICMA certifications are considered equal to Masters. It has been common practice in modern countries that equal academic qualifications are offered to the professional accountants.

UK Naric confirmed to me when i was in UK that MBA/M.Com. from Pakistan is equal to ORDINARY BACHELORS that is of 2 years, not even equal to Honours degree of UK.On the basis of it if HEC is considering B.Sc. Hons. degree from OBU equal to a 3 years Graduate degree then it's a bull ****!

Always compare the degree internationally. I have sent my degree to Harvard Business School, Stanford Graduate School of Business and London Business School. The degree were welcomed by them for MBA programme.

Moreover what ranking LUMS have got in Financial Times MBA 2010 rankings? I personally think that instead of getting admission into LUMS we should get the MBA from Oxford Brookes University which is valued more than LUMS.

Although the degree of OBU is not recognised by HK-CPA and i am not confirmed about US-CPA.

Commerce field have got this acceptance in UK which can be different for other educational fields.

A strongest case can be raised against HEC due to their acceptance of degree from OBU as of equal to 3 year degree. Which is particulary true because intially they were not even recognising that degree and that was regarded a complete bull crap as well from HEC.

Besides HKICPA australian CPA also does not recognize this OBU degree.
As far as US CPA , their specific requirement is 120 to 150 credit hours(very few states with 120 crh) including few hours in accounting and business.Maqzaman a member of this forum(also a US CPA) told here that a Pakistani 2yrs bachelors and 2 years master get around 120 to 130 credit hours if evaluated.Even full ACCA gets around 126 credit hours(according to wikipedia) and if one get ACCA c hours then dependent degrees (bsc obu) r not considered.
But it is good that Us universities(as u stated) r accepting this degree for their masters.

OBU itself issue a 3 years degree to ACCA, to ab HEC aik 3 sal ki degree ko 4 sal ka kaisay man lay.Agar yehi bat uk naric say kahi jae k hamary 2 years bachelors ko apni 3 years k equal man lo to kia woh man lain gay!

mje aj tak samj nahi aayee ye ACCA-ICMAP-CA students apas main keon larte hain me pehley CA me tha after foundation i left it and now i am an MBA.... to kia job nai milti sb ko fir ye larai kis cheez ki... k ACCA world ranking hay Oxford brooks or pata nhi kia kia.... i get to know one thing if we have got some skills employer will choose us no matter MBA-Finance ACCA or CA-Inter or ICMA whatever... just work hard and you will get your job... then ye bacho ki tara ham age u peeche... ye sub kia hey...

and remember one thing that the top most university of Pakistan is not even ranked in rankings... We will be ashamed to know that LUMS is ranked at 2800 something ranking... so if you dont get admission there what will happen.. just go abroad and get some degree from other university thats it.
