hello i m new here i wanna know about ca i m doing b com n i wanted full information like is it realy too tough or is it necessary to take addmission in some college as i heard tht it is not necassary to attend classes u have to take admission thn study at ur own n 2ndly i wanna know tht wot qualification r needed

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP)
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) was established on July 1, 1961 to regulate the profession of accountancy in the Country. It is a statutory autonomous body established under the Chartered Accountants Ordinance 1961. ICAP is a member of International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), Confederation of a Asian & Pacific Accountants (CAPA) and South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA).

Mission

While the prime objective of ICAP is to regulate the Profession of Accountancy in Pakistan, the main objects of the Institute are

To advance the theory and practice of Accountancy in all its aspects including auditing, financial management, taxation and management consultancy

To maintain high standards of professional conduct and ethics by all its members and students.

To conduct examinations of candidates for enrolment of members.

To induct and educate students and to provide continuing professional education to members in auditing, financial management, taxation and management consultancy skills.

Salient features of modular scheme
There will be six Modules namely A, B, C, D, E & F.
Foundation and Intermediate Level examinations are held in March and September each year and are called Spring and Autumn examinations respectively.
Professional Level examinations are held in June and December each year and are called Summer and Winter examinations respectively.
Each module will consist of three papers with the exception of Module D, E & F which will have four papers;
Papers passed will be retained as per rules of progression provided referral level marks have been achieved in all the remaining papers of the module.


Applicable routes
The current applicable routes to become a chartered accountant are

• Modular Foundation Course (MFC) Scheme - full time study of two years at a Registered Accounting Education Tutor (RAET) for Foundation and Intermediate examinations, followed by four years training with a chartered accountant firm. During training period, the students will be eligible to sit in the final examinations. Minimum education requirement to enrol for MFC is HSC / A levels.

• Direct Graduate Training Scheme - University graduates will directly register with a chartered accountant firm for five years training period. Graduates with first division (or equivalent grade) will be exempted from PPT, while graduates with second division (or equivalent grade) will be required to pass PPT before starting training period. During the training period students will be eligible to sit in the Foundation, Intermediate and Final examinations.

• Post Graduate Trainee Scheme - Available to students having masters degree (minimum 2nd division) only. They will directly register with a chartered accountant firm for four years training period. During the training period students will be eligible to sit in the Foundation, Intermediate and Final examinations.

• Private Graduate Scheme - Available to university graduates (minimum 2nd division) only. Graduates with first division (or equivalent grade) will be exempted from PPT, while graduates with second division (or equivalent grade) will be required to pass PPT to register as Private candidate (PFC).

On successful completion of the training period and passing all examinations, the students would be eligible to become members of ICAP.

Eligibility
The entry stream to this course will be as follows

‘A’ Level (at least two passes with minimum Grade “E”)
Higher Secondary School Certificate/Intermediate in Science, Commerce or Arts with
a minimum of 45% marks.
Graduate of any discipline
Candidate who has been unsuccessful in the direct Foundation Examination (taken
privately as per scheme).
Other candidates having equivalent qualifications recognised by the ICAP.

Exemptions to HSC

Students who have passed their HSC (Intermediate with Commerce, Pre-Engineering, Pre-Medical or Arts) would have the option not to attend Module “A” classes provided they have obtained minimum 70% marks in aggregate and a minimum of 60% marks in the relevant subject(s). Further benefit of exemption from specific paper(s) of Module “A” examination will also be available to a student provided he/she has obtained a minimum of 75% marks in a particular subject(s) of Module “A”.

Exemptions to ‘A’ Level

Similarly students who have passed their ‘A’ Levels examination with minimum two B’s and have minimum of C in relevant subject may opt not to attend the classes of Module “A”. For these students exemption from Module “A” relevant paper is also available provide they have obtained a minimum ‘B’ Grade in that subject.

Exemptions to Graduates

For Graduates (with four years study program from Pakistan or three years study program from foreign accredited university) and Post Graduates there is similar provision whereby they can benefit in Modules “A” and “B”. These Graduates / Post Graduates can avail exemption from specific papers of both Modules if they had minimum of 70% marks in relevant subject

Note

All the above mentioned exemptions from classes or examination paper(s) will be approved by the Institute after receiving an application in this behalf and examining each case. While granting exemption from specific paper the Institute will also evaluate whether the course content of the subject for which exemption is sought covers at least 70% of the syllabus as prescribed by the Institute from time to time.
