Currently we have an opening for Actuarial Director with a nationwide Healthcare company at Long Beach. This is a direct hire position. Please review the job description below. POSITION SUMMARY
Provide well-supported analyses, projections and leadership to support a variety of corporate and regulatory requirements and initiatives related to the management of medical care costs and capitation revenue.
FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND STANDARDS
Provide leadership to monthly IBNR estimation process with emphasis on analyzing results to identify early signs of trends or other issues related to medical care costs. Coordinate with state CFOs and CMOS as necessary. Communicate findings to the companyâs Executive management and design/implement appropriate follow-up analyses.
Design and perform projections and analysis to support capitation rate negotiations, RFP development, acquisition risk analysis and other state and regulatory dialogs relative to projected medical care cost and risk adjustment issues. Collaborate with VP of Government Affairs and Plan CEOs and CFOs as necessary.
Provide technical guidance and coaching to actuarial department staff.
Stay abreast of professional developments including new techniques, standards of practice, related accounting requirements etc.
EDUCATION
Bachelor Degree or Higher
EXPERIENCE
At least 10 years of professional actuarial experience, with at least 2 years of healthcare experience preferred
At least 2 years of managerial experience, and demonstrated ability to apply technical expertise to real world problems in a common sense, results oriented way.
Strong oral and written communications skills including in particular the ability to communicate technical concepts to as broad an audience as possible.
Ability to collaborate effectively across the organization and to function well in a team oriented work environment.
LICENSURE/Professional Credentials
Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, Member of the American Academy of Actuaries
SPECIAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Position may require occasional travel to the companyâs state operations. Estimated travel time is 1 to 2 days per month.
