Regarding mod A +B(CA)+new rules of ICAP

If I get Grade E in economics mod A(ca),then what would be the situation?(Considering myself pass in QMT and ENGLISH).

1...Can I pass ECONOMICS with MOD B?according to the new rules or REFER in ECONOMICS is must for doing so?

2...would I be in a situation to appear in exams of whole A and B simultaneously?If I get GRADE E in economics.

also tell which is the best institute for mod B in lhr?Pac,scans or caps

I think in your case you have to repeat mod a in coming attempt.

Skans and Pac are better reputed, and Caps is next in the list

To all the members of the forum and others, me "zephyrrr" hereby declare that I've not confirmed from the ICAP regarding what I've written in the response of the query. It's just my view/comments/understanding which may or may not be wrong. However, the effective way to get it confirmed is directly contacting the ICAP.

Any member of the forum, ICAP student or others relying on my statements in this response if mislead by some way; would be responsible him/her/themselves for consequences.

Dear Friend

ICAP has changed the combination of papers and the rules for appearing in Modules but not the grading system and accompnying rules whether it's new scheme or the old one.

Hence, every ICAPian knows that scoring "E" or "D" grade in one or more papers of the same module <s>or "D" in all the papers of the same module</s> requires to appear in the whole module again as per old scheme. But it's also the case in the new one. The only difference is that you've given the opportunity to appear in consecutive modules which was not allowed before. How? See below

Case A (Suppose there's no new scheme introduced)

- Passed QMT, ENG with ECO referred Eligible to appear in the next module alongwith ECO.

- Passed QMT, ENG with "E" grade in ECO, not eligible to appear in the next module instead required to appear in the whole module again.

Case B (Suppose the new scheme fully implemented in Autumn 2006)

- Passed QMT, ENG with "E" in ECO, must have to appear in Module(A) as a whole. However, eligible to appear in Module(B) too.

- Passed QMT, ENG with refer in ECO, just to appear for paper of Economics of Module(A). And may also appear in Module(B)

You would've seen that new policy does'nt affect the grading system and rules as they've not been changed by ICAP. Only the combination of papers alongwith the opportunity to appear in the consecutive modules have been offered to the students.

Therefore, if you score "E" grade in "Introduction to Economics & Finance" and pass "Eng" & "QMT" in this Autumn 2006 attempt, you would be required to appear in all the papers of Module(A) again in the Spring 2007 attempt. However, you may appear in Module(B) in Spring 2007 also as it's allowed by ICAP under the new scheme. Now if you score refer in Economics and pass "Eng" & "QMT" in Autumn 2006 attempt, you will just have to appear in referred paper i.e. in "Economics" of Module(A) as you'd have been given the credit to the passed papers i.e. "Eng" & "QMT". However, still, you would be eligible to appear in Module(B) also if you wish in the Spring 2007 attempt as the ICAP has clearly mentioned that "All the current students will be adjusted to the new scheme.".


Briefly (ENG & QMT passed in Autumn 2006 attempt)
Grade "E" > ECO Required to appear in Module(A) -> Spring 2007
Grade "R" > ECO Required to appear in "ECO" -> Spring 2007
Plus Allowed to appear in Module(B) also alongwith either of above as the case may be. It's upto you as you wish.


I hope that it would've definitely clarified the revised scheme/policy of ICAP.

Well detailed reply zephyrrr and quite and explanatory approach you have. When you were this much clear with revised scheme then there was no need of asking a similar sort of question on an other post, however, having comments of others is always useful.

Slightest of confusion I had in reading you post was, did you try to say that there is a difference on student's result by scoring D or E. Both these grades mean that you are fail and you have to appear in all 3 or 4 paper again no matter of the grades you got in other papers.

First of all, I'm extremely very sorry for this b u l l s h i t, which was proved to be so later on but was not actually before. Actually, when I posted the topic i.e. the same kind of query; It did'nt even come to my mind that ICAP has'nt change the grading rules etc.. When I read your reply for this topic; it just clicked my mind and everything got cleared to me. Therefore, I replied in detail to make dear "SalmanShahid" have an understanding to the same as well as other members too. Secondly, I had to appear in A3 paper only in Foundation Stage; therefore, I missed to pay attention to the revised scheme properly in this respect too which was induced by your two lines reply.

Thanks a lot for this help and I would like to say that after all seniors are the most valuable source of learning .... in a way that their even one or two lines reply, their some expressions or something else like that in response of queries leaves a lot for learning and enhancing the furture prospects for the students, juniors (especilly me) and others. But for those; who are eager to .... I've learned that; my focus, understanding ability and proper interpretation of the material in the very root still requires some more attention to be enhanced if not more still atleast very near to your's level.

The other case of grade 'D' & 'E'; I never happend to secure such one by the grace of THE ALMIGHTY, THE MOST BENEFICIENT ALLAH except after getting failed again in Economics; referred in the first attempt as 'D' or perhaps 'E' (I got 'D' still) in case of worst attempt is given if referred paper is not passed in the next attempt. Well, in my detailed reply in response of the query by 'SalmanShahid', it just got skipped from my mind; perhaps in hesitation or in writing a bit lavishly without revising the reply before posting ... Yup, it's right what you said. I would like to delete the lines instead of repharasing as it would be always reminding me to be more and more careful in writing .....
