Since you are a science graduate and as you say you now have an IT background,. I think an MBA in IT or marketing may help you in horning your skills in that very field. This is based on the presumption that you would continue on in IT
If however you are interested in Banking or generally finance an MBA in finance would be the thing to do, Finance/accounting is not a very difficult area, its not rocket science just takes a bit of logical thinking and procedures based approach. With an MBA fin you would have options in Banks on the opearations side as well. However, if you aim to go into core Finance/accounting you will be up against qualified accountants CAs ACCAs etc.
On your question about the validity of an MBA not from LUMS/IBA... a decent Uni would do,, ofcourse not a LUMS/IBA degree but then not every one goes to these Unis.. so there is always a niche market for other graduates
