-------------------------------------
ISLAMABAD UK-based T&M International Group has announced plans to invest 15 million pound sterling a year in Pakistan and set up an airline for UK-Pakistan operations.
Addressing a press conference, Tasejad Jefrey, chairman of the group, said that the firm is committed to invest in the country and that the firm has decided to relocate its regional head office from Dubai to Karachi.
âConventionally companies are moving into UAE, instead we are moving out giving a clear signal to the business community that Pakistanâs is open for business.â He said the group has various divisions, which include public relations and consultancy, marketing, import-export, Global Spirit Astraeus Airlines, cargo logistics, real estate and various other new divisions would be formed whilst in Pakistan.
Mr Jafrey said the company is setting up an international airline with its maiden flight between Manchester and Islamabad in full compliance of the air service agreement and UK Civil Aviation regulations.
We are bridging the air-link between the UK and Pakistan by offering business customers a world class airline which will conform to international service standards and we will offer the business community an opportunity to travel economically to Pakistan.â
He said the airline would offer two class services â First Class, being dubbed as Nawab Class, and Spirit Class with a fare structure that will be commensurate with existing operators. âOur aircraft that we operate into Pakistan will be named â The Spirit of Pakistan (Ruh-e- Pakistan) this truly reflects our companyâs commitment to Pakistan,â he said.
To a question, he said the firm is currently waiting for a formal government approval and it had complied to all requirements as per the Air Services Agreement between the UK and Pakistan.
âOur application has been with the ministry of defence aviation division for over 3 months now and we patiently await a response which should have been given in 21 days as per the agreement,â he said. âWe will be the second British national carrier that will operate on the route and hope to start our operations from November this year.â Mr Jeffrey said they will create employment for hundreds of Pakistanis and that they intend to increase investment into Pakistan on a yearly basis. He said the T&M International Group will have offices throughout Pakistan and will recruit Pakistanis in senior positions for all its operations. staff report
